In an unprecedented year, Thorns Collegiate Academy would like to offer students double congratulations – for their results, and for their resilience during exceptionally challenging circumstances.
Principal Manny Kelay said “We are extremely proud of our young people, who laid the groundwork for their success and have achieved results which reflect their hard work. We wish them well as they move onwards.”
The Academy is celebrating some outstanding individual performances from students, and wishes to congratulate them on their success. Marie Smith and Emily Hatfield achieved Grade 8 or better in every subject studied, with Emily celebrating impressive Grade 9 scores in Science, and Marie having achieved the highest grade in Geography and DT.
The Science team are celebrating a superb year, with Hasnain Ahmed and Alex Homer achieving a perfect score of Grade 9 in all three Sciences, while Jasmine Lawrence celebrates a stand-out set of results in the Languages, with triple Grade 9s in English Language and Literature, as well as French. The Mathematics Department are celebrating Grade 9s achieved by Piran Smith, Hasnain Ahmed and Nathan Gill. Charlotte Prigg celebrates the Academy’s best progress figure, beating her targets in every single subject by at least a grade.
Principal Manny Kelay added “We are a truly comprehensive school – we do not only celebrate the strongest academic achievements, but those at every level.” Emma Foley celebrates achieving the gateway grades in English and a strong progress score, including a 6 in English Literature. Katie Sidaway unlocks her future studies with her qualifications, including her strongest grades in Mathematics and DT.
Senior Assistant Principal Charlotte Taylor thanked the community for their work in supporting students: “It takes the whole family to support a student through their GCSEs, and the Academy is always grateful for this support.”
