GCSE Results

2022/23

In August 2023 students celebrated after receiving their highly anticipated GCSE results, opening doors to their chosen sixth form, college or apprenticeship as they get ready to take the next steps in their education journeys.

Staff, students and families came together to celebrate and mark the achievements of all students, who have worked incredibly hard to secure their final grades.

Overall, 92% of students achieved 5 or more GCSE, or equivalent, passes. The percentage of students achieving a Grade 5 or above in both English and Maths has increased again this year, with Grade 5 set by the government as a strong pass.

In English, just under a quarter of our students achieved grades 7 to 9, which was the highest in the Academy’s history.

Manny Kelay, Principal at Thorns Collegiate Academy, said: “On behalf of everyone at Thorns Collegiate Academy, congratulations to our year 11 students on their GCSE results! Your achievements reflect all your hard work, resilience and dedication and you should all be proud of yourselves and how far you have come as individuals. Remember that your potential knows no limits and we wish you all the very best for the future.

“I would also like to say a huge thank you to our staff at the Academy for all their hard work and support in not just preparing students for their exams, but also ensuring that they are best equipped for life beyond school.”

Sir Mark Grundy, CEO at Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust, said: “Congratulations to all our GCSE students at Thorns Collegiate Academy. Despite the challenges following the pandemic, you continued to demonstrate versatility and commitment throughout your studies, exemplifying the spirit that defines our community across the Trust.

“As you step into your new, exciting chapters at sixth form, colleges and apprenticeships, I am confident that you will continue to make us proud and go on to achieve successful and happy futures for yourselves.”
