Safer Internet Day – 9th February 2021

Each year Safe and Sound, Dudley’s Community Safety Partnership, work with partners to promote Safer Internet Day: https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/safer-internet-day/2021

This year, in conjunction with Dudley Grid for Learning and Dudley Safeguarding People Partnership, Online Safety eLearning Courses are to be launched. The courses are suitable for both Adults and Childrens workforces across the borough and are free to book onto. Thursday 11th February 2021 – 10.00am-11.30am – Current Trends, ‘Fake news and misinformation’
Audience: Children’s workforce

Understanding the impact of the digital environment, the lockdown and the way the digital world is having an effect on young people – a look into the trends and themes that young people participate in. 

This session will cover areas around the importance of understanding the signs around fake news, misinformation, digital reputation and digital footprints.  The session will also look at practical advice and guidance on how, as professionals, we can help young people to be more aware of their actions when they are online.  It will also cover some emerging trends and themes that young people are engaging in, which can be concerning.

Thursday 11th February 2021 – 1.30pm-3.00pm – Current Trends, ‘Fake news and misinformation’
Audience: Adult’s workforce

Understanding the way, the digital world has an effect on adults – a look into the impact of the greater use of digital/online in adult life and how it can present challenges to the individual. 

This session, focussing on adults, will cover areas around the importance of understanding the signs around phishing, misinformation, digital reputation and resilience, scams and digital footprints. The session will also look at practical advice and guidance on how, as professionals, we can help adults to be more aware of their actions when they are online and the impact negative behaviour will have on their futures. It will also cover some emerging trends and themes that adults are engaging in, which can be potentially detrimental to them and others.
