Miss Haycock – ‘Putting’ her name on the trophy

A late surge from Bromsgrove GC’s Liz Haycock took her to a third Warwickshire Ladies County Championship at Kenilworth GC.

The 30-year-old Thorns Collegiate Academy teacher, who first won the title in 2010, claimed a 2&1 final victory over the highly-promising Copt Heath teenager Zara Houghton.

Liz, who also won the competition in 2017, led for the first time at the 15th and then took the next before seeing out the match with a superb up and down at 17, holing from eight feet for the title.

“This week has been an incredible week playing in such a big competition, especially after such a turbulent year. I’ve learnt so much from the experience”.

Liz has now qualified for the England ‘Champions Of Champions’ tournament in September.

Congratulations Liz!!!
