It’s been an action-packed Focus Day today at the academy. Year 10 students have been taking part in ‘mock’ interview sessions, giving them valuable experience for when they apply for jobs in the future, whilst Year 7 students have been participating in code-breaking activities.
Year 8 have spent the day completing a DofE taster day. We are now in our second year of offering the nationally recognised Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award which will be offered to students in Year 9 and above again to start in September. They have learnt Bushcraft skills, cooked pasta outside using stoves, built tents, completed orienteering and team building tasks. Many of the skills utilised today such as communication, team work and resilience are integral to the DofE and students have stood up to the challenges which faced them today very well. The students have shown a great attitude throughout and performed tasks to a fantastic standard.
