Statement from Mr Kelay:
I have taken the decision to once again close the Academy to students and staff. This is due to the fact there is still much snow on the ground which has thawed slightly but is likely to freeze once again during the evening as temperatures fall to -8 degrees. Our three site managers have worked tirelessly today to clear pathways around the Academy but given the high risk of ice on site and the surrounding roads and pavements, I have decided that we will close. Three of our local primary schools have also made the reluctant decision to close, and we appreciate that working parents with young children at these school may have childcare issues. My thanks go out to the site team for their efforts. The temperatures are supposed to be higher on Wednesday so we should be able to return to a safe site.
Year 11 Mock Examinations will continue as planned on Wednesday (all going well) and the missed exams will be rearranged for next week. We still aim to have the Mock Exams completed by the Christmas break.
We will update you with further news. Please take care.
