This week is an important step forwards for us at Thorns with the launch of Behaviour Management Services (BMS). This is our new approach to raise standards in uniform and behaviour, including a site-wide ban on mobile phones for students. All learning environments have been extremely positive with students demonstrating excellent behaviour for learning as they know that inappropriate behaviour or passive learning will not be tolerated. Students have responded well and are looking very smart despite the extremely hot weather.
We are looking forward to welcoming our new Year 7 intake on Thursday 6th July for our Induction Day. Year 6 will join us for the day and meet their new Form and Literacy 4 Life Teacher and experience a day at Thorns. Colleagues will be visiting the children in their schools over the next fortnight in preparation for this. We are also delighted to be able to offer a short Summer School for our new Year 7 students; it will run from Wednesday 26th to Friday 28th July. We know that this experience is invaluable to our new students in helping them to gain confidence regarding the transition from primary to secondary school
