Birmingham Royal Ballet Workshop

This week, Year 10 BTEC dancers had the privilege of working with Birmingham Royal Ballet artist Jenny, and pianist Andrew. During the session students learned choreography from the professional work ‘Still Life at the Penguin Cafe’, which students will use as evidence for their Component 1 BTEC exam.

Dancers had the opportunity to ask Jenny and Andrew questions about how a ballet is constructed, and they were intrigued to ask Jenny what life is like as a dancer.Students were also allowed to try on a tutu from ‘Swan Lake’, pointe shoes and head masks to get a flavour of what it is like to dress in professional dance costumes.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable and inspirational day for all involved.
